Description
The fourth brewery in the Bearhill Brewing family, Campio Brewing Co. was established in 2018 and rounds out the ‘Albeerta’ story in Edmonton. With a beer program that ranges from the working man’s thirst quenching brews to a sour program that pushes the palate, Campio wants to stress that this is beer to be drunk without a notebook in hand.

Tons of coffee here. Too much probably. Almost vegetable like aftertaste here. Some roast, a little caramel. Black pour without much head or lacing. Lacks balance. Tap at the 105th street location.

Mostly just straw here. Inoffensive, but not a ton to go on. Pours clear golden with ok head. Not much in the way of noble hops. Reminds me more of Canadian pale lagers. Tap at brewery.

Bottle pour at Barrel Fest 2025, pours a deep dark muddled purple with a small white head. Aroma smells Kedem grape juice, not much wild character. Flavour is dry, with a nice Concord grape character, light wild yeast character, and a dry, lightly tannic finish. Pleasant grape character, decent base. Solid.

Bottle pour at Barrel Fest 2025, pours a cloudy bright golden with a small white head. Aroma has some weird brett funk, earthy hops, and a touch of citrus. Flavour has some funky brett, light flatulent notes, and earthy hops. Bright, citrusy finish. Weird brett character. Not working for me.

On tap at Campio, pours a cloudy yellow with a larger white head. Aroma has some musty oats and earthy hops. Flavour is dry, with muddled oats, earthy hops, and light chalk. Not a good hop expression—and the base is very muddled. Weak.

On tap at Campio, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma has a nice red wine grape must, some wild yeast, and some balsamic. Flavour is quite acidic, with lots of balsamic, acetic acid, some THP, and a touch of grape must. Too acetic and THP-contaminated. Not good.
