Description
The fourth brewery in the Bearhill Brewing family, Campio Brewing Co. was established in 2018 and rounds out the ‘Albeerta’ story in Edmonton. With a beer program that ranges from the working man’s thirst quenching brews to a sour program that pushes the palate, Campio wants to stress that this is beer to be drunk without a notebook in hand.

On tap at Campio, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma has a nice red wine grape must, some wild yeast, and some balsamic. Flavour is quite acidic, with lots of balsamic, acetic acid, some THP, and a touch of grape must. Too acetic and THP-contaminated. Not good.

On tap at Campio, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has a nice deep coffee character, toasted malt, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour has a nice medium roast coffee character and dry toasted malt base. Nice coffee character but the malt base is rather flimsy. Decent.

On tap at Campio, pours a cloudy pale orange with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of cardamom, a touch of plum, and light lacto. Flavour is full of yogurty lacto, a touch of cardamom, and a gentle plum. Too much yogurty stuff. Bleh.

On tap at Campio, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of jalapeños, a touch of pineapple, and soft wheaty notes underneath I guess. Flavour has sweet juicy pineapple, a soft wheaty underpinning, and light jalapeño. Weird mix of elements that obscures the hef base. Not a fan.

On tap at Campio, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out rustic saison yeast, light peppery notes, and biscuity malt. Flavour is lightly estery, with gentle pepper, and light rustic saison yeast. Still too estery for my tastes but it’s okay.

Bottle pour at Barrel Fest 2025. Pours murky blonde with a white head. Smells like febreeze and urinal pucks. Flavour is lightly acidic with still way too much of that urinal puck character. The hopping is clean but that expression is just horrendous. Fuck me.

Bottle pour at Barrel Fest 2025. Pours nearly opaque dull mahagony with a white head. Manure (+) and dark fruits on the nose. Flavour has a decent funk going on, nice manure character, lots of grapes and some cinnamon near the finish. Not bad.

On tap at the brewery. Pours opaque dull yellow with a white head. Lots of bright lemony yuzu citrus on the nose. Flavour is super pithy, some lemon rinds; dry chalky finish. Very poor.
