(Can, Wagamama, Southwark, London, 26 Nov 2022) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, cereal, rice and hay. Malty taste with bread, cereal, rice, hay, corn and a slightly metallic finish with low bitterness. Medium body, with a certain malt sweetness. Hardly impressive, but fairly enjoyable.

12 oz bottle picked up at World Market. Clearly not brewed in Australia anymore, and this bottle says it was brewed at Matt Brewing, NY for Lucky Buddha. Pretty standard international green bottle lager. Skunky nose right away. Crisp front and just about flavorless. Soft paper grain, and a watered down finish. Can't have off flavors if there's no flavor at all I suppose. Plain and simple.

330ml from Tops Supermarket, Bangkok. Brewed at Cheerday brewery in China. Poured a clear yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is lager yeast, strong something horrible which I can’t put my finger on. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a crisp, yeasty, slightly watery, herbal malt, floral, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation. Pretty awful and undrinkable. I do wonder if the brewery is truly happy with this beer as it stands. Can they honestly put their hand on their heart and say this is the best they can do? It really is awful and after a few sips to rate the thing it was poured down the drain. Don’t the importers read the rating sites before they decide to import a beer? Clearly not or this beer would not have hit the shelves in Thailand.

Bottle, the US brewed version has abandoned the novelty bottle. Pours very pale gold. Floral, cereal, apricot, fairly clean. Somewhat low carb body. Fine.

Bottle from Home Bargains, Salford. Golden-blonde with an extremely thin head and a small carbonation. It slips down the palate with ease, but it's one of the most neutral and tasteless lagers I've encountered. It's nice to see they've stuck with their elaborate bottle in this race to the bottom culture as they could probably save a lot of money using standard ones.

It's not going to win any prizes for quality, but also not the worst macro lager out there! The novelty bottle is fun, but also a bit wrong (don't think Buddha would be happy, even though he always is apparently). As for what it's like, well it's pale gold with a small bubbly white head, pretty much no aroma apart for a weak, grassy & herbal nose. Thin bodied, bubbly, a little bit grassy and floral, some sweetness and actually went well with my Katsu Chicken.
