Out.Haus Ales
Microbrewery in Northwood, New Hampshire, United States 🇺🇸
Established in 2013
Closed in 2023
The name came from friends in Massachusetts. Because our house was so far away from everyone we were named the Out.Haus. When I started labeling my homebrew, that was the name I decided to use.
I quit my full-time job on Friday, January 13, 2012 to focus all of my time and energy in creating a commercial brewery. After looking at various locations and out-buildings on the property I finally decided to convert part of the garage to the brewery.

Bottle from the Lazy Dog Slightly hazy light yellow with a bubbly white head that shows moderate retention. Very floral nose with hints of honey and earthy sweet bread. The flavor is a bit sweet like the nose suggested with bits of earthy rustic floral notes. I came in thinking I might not enjoy this, but I was pleasantly surprised.

650 ml bottle purchased at CBC, Portsmouth location for a price of $7.00. Green sticker on bottle reads 2015- 07- 25. Could you straw color with good carbonation level. Chalice has suds of lace down the sides. Aroma shows the dried chamomile flowers with a very light Belgian yeast.
Flavor shows the dried chamomile throughout the sip and it comes off very mellow and subtle. It doesn’t overwhelm at any point. Whatever yeast strain was used is also noticeable at the backend of the sip. Carbonation level is smooth with a nice mouthfeel. This brew is tame and subtle overall. Good news is it has no off flavors or flaws. Easy drinking.

Bottle from the Drinkery Derry. solid black color with a decent sized long lasting foamy beige head that persists. Rich chocolate aroma with hints of earth and spice. Light caramel with a big milk chocolate maltiness offset nicely with a subtle earthy spicy pepper flavor. Rich creamy velvety mouthfeel. Medium Body. This is a nice beer, but I feel like it would have worked better for me with a bit more chili presence.

Bottle from the brewery. Aroma is rich roasted bready malts with notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Appearance is opaque black with no sparkle, negligible light brown head and lacing. Taste is nice balance of moderate sweet and bitter, much like the aroma. Palate is full bodied with thick texture, enough of a carbonation backbone to support the beer but is not a defining feature. Finish is long remnant of the balanced sweet/bitter. Overall, a really nice beer. Appearance is so-so but so what? Taste is the main thing and this is highly satisfying.

Bottle from the brewery. Aroma is rich, roasted malts with chocolate, hints of coffee and yeasty dough. Appearance is slightly hazy, extremely dark reddish brown--almost opaque/black, with minimal creamy beige head and no lacing. Taste is moderately sweet malts with chocolate and notes of alcohol, balanced with mildly bitter coffee-like finish. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture and good, supportive carbonation that does not compete for attention. Overall, probably my favorite offering from this brewery to date. Strong and rich all around with good complexity.

Bottle from the brewery. Aroma is yeasty dough with fruity esters. Appearance is hazy yellow with fluffy head. Taste is medium sweet fruit, not terribly strong. Palate is medium bodied with a bit of a slick texture and fairly flat carbonation. Finish is mildly sweet. Overall, a pretty straightforward beer that is competent but not exemplary.

Bottle at the brewery. Aroma is of caramel and bready malts with floral/fruity ester hints. Appearance is clear dark brown with light creamy head. Taste is medium sweet--not overpowering, with caramel and fruit like the aroma. Palate is medium bodied, thick texture with average carbonation and nice mildly sweet finish. Overall, a good looking beer with similar aroma/taste profiles and nice palate.

Bottle at the brewery. Aroma is of yeasty dough and fruity banana. Appearance is hazy light yellow with white foamy head. Taste is medium sweet with fruity/yeast quality, like aroma. Palate is light-to-medium body with slightly slick texture, mild carbonation and pleasant, long, minimally sweet finish. Overall, a pretty solid wheat beer. Straightforward and highly drinkable when looking for a light, refreshing beer.

Bottle from Bert’s Dark brown with ruby highlights and a large bubbly tan head that dissipates quickly. Light dark dried fruit, caramel, spicy wheat and some yeasty esters. Somewhat over carbonated with a bubbly mouthfeel and a medium thin body. Not a fan.
