Description
Munkebo Brewery was founded in late 2013 when our brew master returned to Denmark after working in a Brewery, in the German mountains. We brew our beer at different breweries, but mainly in Denmark with colab’s various places at other breweries at home and abroad. Munkebo moved in 2019 from the old base at Kerteminde to the harbor in Odense, in an old warehouse from the 17th century.

Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a slightly hazy deep reddish brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma of dates, anise, cardamom, wood, and some roasted malt. The flavour is similar with lots of dried fruit and Christmas spices. Has a slick and slightly silky mouth feel, medium to full-bodied and a light bitterness. Interesting how well the spices has survived the cellaring, and with solid maltiness to balance it out.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of wort and wet grain. The flavour is fairly dry, with notes of grain, a weak fruitiness and quite a bit of bittering hops. Barely drinkable when ice cold. But if you REALLY need a beer that is both non-alcoholic and gluten free, this one is an option.

(Bottle, from Bottl3.5hop, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of caramel, resin, citrus peel and hints of rubber. Malty, hoppy taste with caramel, crisp-bread, toast, black-currant, resin, citrus and a balanced resiny bitterness. Light body, not to say thin, with a certain sweetness. Generous amounts of resiny hops, but lacks the malt to back it up. A bit unbalanced, but enjoyable.
