About
Munkebo Brewery was founded in late 2013 when our brew master returned to Denmark after working in a Brewery, in the German mountains. We brew our beer at different breweries, but mainly in Denmark with colab’s various places at other breweries at home and abroad. Munkebo moved in 2019 from the old base at Kerteminde to the harbor in Odense, in an old warehouse from the 17th century.

Bottle from Skinnyviking, thanks. Fawn coloured head over a deep rosewood body. Spotty lacing. Dried fruity nose, earth and spices to it. Taste of berry fruits, spuce, and cinnamon. Warming, sweet fruity ending. Heavy to drink. Yuletide feel in late August. (Joint rating session with Finn and djoeye, Tromsø 31.08.2017).

On tap at Vrteška 2017, Shared with Višnja 666! Very dark, small tan head. Mostly malty with some hop aroma, potent. Dried fruit and licorice. Light body, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Strong. Seems old, no hops here.

Bottle. An unclear dark golden to amber colored beer trying to sneak out of the bottle without help. Rather fizzy, with a huge foamy light beige head. The aroma is sort of sawdust-like, with pine cones, citrus zest and some bread. It’s rather thin on the palate, soft and quite bitter, with the same sawdust thing found on the nose. Sort of cardboard-ish too. Pine cones and orange zest too, leading to a similar finish. A rather awful beer I couldn’t finish. 170801

Smell of malt, nuts. Cloudy brown colour, high beige head. Aroma of cognac, oak, alcohol, sugar, some nuts in finish. Also a faint of honey. Very sweet. Oily thick texture, very heavy body. Lively soft carbon.

Bottled. Orange/brown, miniscule head. Fruity caramel aroma. Sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Sweet grains, caramel and aniseed. Low bitterness. Basic and not very traditional.

[ As Munkebo Högni ].Unclear - hazy matt medium orange yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, light bread, light cookie. Flavor is light moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, thin, pale malt, yeast - wood. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20170519] 5-2-5-3-10
