In the village of Hordain the Brasserie la Choulette is one of the last breweries in the North founded in the 19th century and still in operation. Heir to this rich brewing past, Brasserie La Choulette has retained the authenticity of genuine artisanal production. The brewery is a family affair, a profession, a passion passed down from generation to generation.
The first Dhaussy brewery, founded by Jules Dhaussy, was in operation between 1895 and 1951. In 1977 Alphonse Dhaussy took over the Bourgeois-Lecerf brewery in Hordain. Alphonse and his son Alain were up to a crazy gamble: relaunch top-fermented beers while around them, regional breweries were closing their doors one after the other. But after a long and hard fight, the Bourgeois-Lecerf brewery regained its former splendor.
In 1981, an amber beer was launched called La Choulette. A name taken from a traditional and popular game from the North, Choulette, a lacrosse-golf game, the origin of which dates back to Antiquity. In 1986, Alain Dhaussy, master brewer, definitively took over the family business which he baptized, Brasserie Artisanale La Choulette.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 16. Brought by Jeremy. Many thanks! One of those beers I assumed I had rated before, but havent. Pours a hazed amber, off-white head. Aroma is ripe dark berries, malts. Taste bears a curious sweetness alongside the soft caramel malts that I think I missed last time. This I think makes it a little too sweet and imbalanced for me.

W smaku brzoskwinia i ananas, sporo slodowosci, a za malo chmielnosci i wytrawnosci. Piwo jednokierunkowe. Za bardzo skierowane na slodycz. Mocno srednie. Ale fajniutka i malownicza etykieta

Bottle @ Jesperhus Camping. Pours pale golden with a huge white head. Aroma of light malt, light yeast, honey like sweetness, hay, mild notes of sweet fruit, peach and apricot. Flavor is rather sweet, malt, light yeasty, sweet parfumelike notes, honey, sweet fruit, light alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. 221016

Ale fajniutkie piwo. Piana biala jak balwan na sniegu i tak dlugo stoji jak on prze 40 stopniowym mrozie. Metniste w odcieniu moreli piwo. Pachnie superowo morelami suszonymi i swiezymi, gruszkami i mirabelkami. W smaku nie czuc alkoholu bardzo owocowe morele i brzoskwinie a na wykonczeniu wyglodzony smak przecieru z mango i jablek. Chmielnosc niewielka ale ta owocowosc przypadla mi do gustu, Jest super dziwia az tak niskie oceny.
