The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

Thanks jinroh for sharing 8-9 year old bottle! Poured into a snifter showing medium amber with no head. The nose shows strong notes of baking bread and malt. The palate is medium bodied with barely any carbonation. Strong notes of baked bread and grainy malt with a light bitterness on the finish.

CBS vertical tasting @ Tim's. 8-9 years old vintage bottle from my Secret Santa, thank you Beerhunter111. Hazy brown pour, no real carbonation. Nose is mind blowing, sweet caramel blended together with some bitterness,. Figs dried plums and sugary dates. Taste is nicely cake-like, some sweet heat, rye spices, well blended and finishing with dry bitter, slick linger. Herbal. Really has aged nicely, great beer. Definitely the best altbier I have ever had.

Drank 2009 in 2018. Slightly hazy amber brown color. Liquid tootsie roll, with nuts and cherries. Tons of sweetness. Low carbonation, tons of tootsie rolls, caramel, milk chocolate and cherries. Really really good. Light body. Nice warming finish. Excellent

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Hazy ruby body with a few chunks floating beneath a thin beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cherry, treacle, liquorice, leather and wood. Flavour of raisins, prunes, istewed tea, berries and caramelised sugar. Medium with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A sweet, delicious beer.

33 cl ceramic swing top bottle. Pours a tawny copper brown color. Small creamy beige head. Toasted malt nose has earthy, sweet caramel notes. Interesting bittersweet caramel malt flavor upfront. Some nuttiness in middle, with a hint of rye grain. Bitter hops in finish are slightly resiny. Very good.

On tap at Uerig Hausbrauerei Düsseldorf. Comes with a clear, dark amber Color and a nice off-white head. Nose is malty, Caramel and some herbs. Taste is also malty with a dry touch. Nice bitter-sweet finish.

50 cl. flip-top bottle @ home, bought @ Trinkgut Kleve. Clear dark amber with a huge off-white head. Caramel, hops and leather/cellar aroma. Taste is fairly bitter with a sour touch which give it a real good drinkability. Not unlike a good English bitter. Massive beer for such a modest ABV. Will drink again.

Bottle from Best One, Brackley Road, Bedford. Tawny brown, almost clear, with a film of off-white head. Caramel malt, wood chips, medicinal herbs in the aroma. Bittersweet taste with an astringent hoppy flavour in the latter half of the sip. Walnuts and green hoppy touches on the aftertaste. I like a good Altbier and was excited to try this, but found it a little underwhelming if solid.

29-12-17 // at brewery in Düsseldorf, got in a glass, nno idea if bottle or draft. Cloudy yellow with big foamy head. Spices in the nose. Light bodied. Only light yeast. Mild fresh green banana. Wheat malts. Stick to Alt.

29-12-17 // draft from cask at the brewery in Düsseldorf. Clear mahagoni small head. Mild roasted malts body with a medium bitter hop finish. Mild sour malty touch.
