Description
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.
We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.
In hops we trust!

Medium brown head. Opaque black body, at least in this dark corner. Roasty dark quality chocolate aroma with toffee notes. Dry-sweet roasty dark chocolate taste with fruity perfumy notes. Full-bodied. Mild, quite mealy mouthfeel, almost grainy. Dry-sweet earthy chocolatey aftertaste with long, lingering oily chocolatey finish. Very nice, but perhaps a little bit dense. (0.33l draft at Bishops Arms, Vasagt, Stockholm.)

A black, a head is light brown and medium. Aroma has lots of dried fruits, roastiness, sweetness, some raisins, rum and vanilla. Great aroma. Taste is more roastiness than aroma, some dark fruits, sweetness, no bitterness. Long lasting aftertaste. Full bodied, low carbonation, smooth. Low alcohol notes all the time. Tasteful and sweet Imperial Stout.

Clear golden color with a fine white head. Looks nice. Good lacing. Pine, citric and fruity aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Herbal/grassy, pine, fruity and citric flavor.

33cl bottle @ home. Poured copper in color with a thin white head. Some toffee sweetness, some vanilla notes and sweet dark fruits, bready notes. Flavor has sweetness, dark fruits, vanilla notes and booze. Quite sticky finish, warming, too boozy to be really enjoyable. ok sipper though, but not their best brew.
