Description
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.
We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.
In hops we trust!

33cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours slightly hazy golden to orange with a lasting, white head. Rather spicy and yeasty aroma with citrusy and wheaty notes and hints of ginger. Moderate sweet with a yeasty and spicy flavours with a light acidity and a rather dry finish. Not quite my style, but fairly refreshing. --- Beer merged from original tick of Valge Laev (2015-) on 18 Apr 2015 at 18:48 - Score: 6

0,33L bottle, batch 062. Pours hazy straw-golden with huge white head. The head stays. Aroma is citrus, phenols, lemon, spices. Flavor is sweet and sour with a touch of bitterness, citrus, lemon, spices, ginger. Finish is grapefruit bitter with spices. Overall: I rather like this one, but I’m little tired of the magnum hops they use in almost every brew.

Very dark brown color. Big dark brown head, dark brown color. A bit of oak, and wine with lots of rye and chocolat malt. Nice smooth mouth that is slightly sour. Nice roasted character. Lots of umami, somewhat briny. Nice lingering salty finish.

Big thick frothy white head. Cloudy light amber, cloying palatines, esters and a bit of aonori in the nose. Very full body. Big palatine and clove mouth. Very very yeasty, warming. Nice, but too yeasty.

0,33L bottle, batch 064. Pours dark amber with beige head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is very sweet, fruits, banana, strawberries. Flavor is very sweet and bitter, caramel, fruits, wheat, alcohol. Finish is sweetness, dry bitterness and more alcohol. Overall: major disappointment. I love weizen bocks, but this is just a mess. There is no harmony between sweetness and bitterness and the booze is just overwhelming.
