Description
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.

We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.

In hops we trust!

Bottle shared with SVD. Very nice, some vanilla, lactose and a little bitter. No "campfire smokiness" if you ask me.

Can shared with SVD. Pretty nice. Hoppy, fruity and not too much hop burn.

Bottle shared with SVD. Nice, but the whisky is VERY present. Would have been better if the flavours were balanced a little more.

Can shared with SVD. Very light on the taste, slightly citrusy. Drinkable but could have been a lot better.

Can. Looking sexy, close to black, with a dense finger-thick beige head. Roasted malts, a touch of dark dried fruit, some hazelnut and a toasted hint. Semi-dry, with a good bitterness. Hints of dark rye bread in the end. Enjoyable. 747414 260410

Bottle. Pretty much a clear deep brown amber beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, a little dry, good fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, pretty mellow, a slightly oaty sweetness with a mild chocolate biscuit vibe. Soft ripe fruits. The Pandan leaves bring aromatic soft spice and light exotic fruits. Light smooth finish. Nice brew, as always with these annual Baltic specials. I think this one could have done with a bit more dark malt character, but, a tasty and interesting brew nonetheless.
