De Dolle Brouwers
Microbrewery
in Diksmuide,
West Flanders,
Belgium 🇧🇪
Associated Venue: De Dolle Brouwers
Established in 1980
We have recently found papers in the archives stating that the first building dates from 1835 AD. Once it was both a brewery and distillery. The founder died in 1882 and the brewery was sold to Alouis Costenoble. The family brewed for three generations until 1980 when the brewery stopped.
Beer brands included COQ PILS OUD BRUIN & COSMOS. In Esen there were six breweries (all small and part-time) and two distilleries. The actual brewer is doing historical research on West-Flanders breweries since 1900 AD, and has got the 'GOLDEN HAMMER' Trophy, a two yearly award for historic research on breweries. This was attributed by vzw 't Hamerken in Bruges on March 27, 2000 AD

Bottle. Soft haze on a gingery gold. Voluminous white foam stays the course. Unreal vinous notes here. Funky juicy tart sweet and sour. Oaky vanilla. Taste is sweet sour juicy and slightly bitter. Drinks preposterous easy. Juicy vinous finish. Stellar.

2025 vintage. Tap at Malto, Riccione, Italy. Pours amber gold, scarcely transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is fruity, with berries, but also honey, melon. Body is average, with fine but not irrelevant carbonation. Taste is fairly sweet. Final is still fairly rich.

Aged copper orange with a small head. Big dried fruity notes under caramel, toasted malts, a bit of spice. Medium bodied. Finish has some booze and gets a little dry but balanced by spice and malts. Very enjoyable.

A murky brownish orange with a small but present head. Sweet malts, booze, dark fruits, plum, spice, toasted malts, dried fruits, raisin, caramel sauce. Medium bodied. Full bodied. Finish lingers with dried fruits, raisins, and sweet malts. Still rocking.
Drank today so it’s got nine years on it.

Bottle shared, 20 years old. Clear amber. Strong oxidized notes of sherry and raisins, alcohol, pineapple, alcohol, caramel, light yeasty. Solid sweet, very light sour. Slick body. Quite nice, but really shows a ton of age.

I may had this beer 20 years ago last time? Hazy orange-golden colour, firm white head and some lace. Leather-funky aroma, grapes, riped fruits in the nose. Medium-bodied. Spicey, grapes, fruits, alcohol, some tartness, citrusy hops in the flavour. Classic.

750ml bottle from Douglas88. Foggy golden pour, airy, frothy, bubbly head. Aroma is tart, fruity, funky. Taste is complex, the wine barrels adding subtle floral notes to the tart, fruity flavors, along with plenty of that funk.
Slightly funky, tart and ripeish fruity with hints of sourness and spiciness, oaky woodiness, honey and vinegary oakiness. A bit messy.
