Description

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Hazy amber color, with splendid creamy and steady head. The aroma of hops is rather sweaty. Good body, malt and caramel flavor, with strong hopping, carrying a good load of fruity character; yeast in the end. Rough but good.

06/08/2011 250ml bottle. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Barley Wine non molto convincente, ma promettente. La bottiglia provata era troppo giovane.

01/2010 Small off-white head over unclear yellow-orangeish beer. Chalk and wild fruit, soured honey, citrus and wet floormop. Very tart and dry, lemonpeel, floormop Bretts; barnyard, fruity flavours and faint flowery in the background. Dry, tart, utterly out-fermented into leanness; sharp acidity. Good try, but it isn’t quite the real thing... at all. Many thanks, Lorenzo

Head not lasting seconds; dirty brown-red beer. Véry fruity nose with banana and especially apricot; all on brandy, as well as cloved oranges for sangria. Very intense. Oxydized, stale, but nonetheless superb brandy where wine-sodden fruit were soaked, again orange and apricot, plus apple, banana. Fusels’ galore. Alcoholburn, thinned by the sheer ABV, but as a madeirisation of something rich. I’ve had better Barley Wines, no doubt, but never a fruitier one. Special! Mille grazie, Lorenzo!
