Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours mostly clear gold with a creamy white head. Grainy malts in the nose, hints of pine needles, lemon rind. Light sweet flavor with assertive bitterness, a little bit of plastic/phenol, harsh grass, grain husk. Light bodied with average carbonation. Bitter finish with further grassy bitterness, some woody notes, leaves, pale grains. Once the palate adjusts to the bitterness - and I don’t think a palate should need to adjust - the beer is drinkable. But overall, the beer is a bit rough at the edges.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a dense, creamy beige head. Moderate roasted malts in the aroma, some milk chocolate, dark berries. Light-medium sweet flavor with nice cocoa character, some burnt earth bitterness, burnt sugars, milk chocolate, mild dry and leathery berries. Light bodied with really lively carbonation; it’s a bit over-carbonated, which distracts from the subtle characteristics of the beer. Lightly sweet on the finish, with further milk chocolate, a hint of bittersweet baking cocoa, more bitter earth, some ash. Really good stuff given the ABV. It could be even better if the carbonation levels weren’t out of balance. Overall, solid.
