[i] Bottle at Dulle Griet, Gent 06-12-07 [/i] This was something of a shocker to have after the magnificent Boon. Far too sweet to take seriously nonetheless there are still some positives to take into account....and then my notes mysteriosuly stop, I wonder what they were?

Dark ruby color. Curious boozy aroma. Brandyish, also with a cheap cherry liqueur quality. It previews a hugely cloying flavor, and while hugely sweet I guess it wasn’t as syrupy cloying as I’d feared. Its getting close though! There’s a slight cherry pit tartness. Weird herbal finish that hints at anise.

Corked bottle. Big fresh rasperry jelly aroma. Beautiful cloudy darker purple ruby color. Taste is raspberry explosion. Average carbonation. Nice for the sweet at heart. Barnyard manure flavors in an old aged barn barrel of crushed raspberries. Perfect sweet finsh, just plain lovely.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing - my first, and quite possibly my last faro - smells like raw cane sugar and earthy, almost rotting fruit - not a lot going on in the flavor - sugar dominates, along with some cherry and other fruity aspect - there is some acidity and sourness far in the background, but the sweetness overpowers it so much.

Thanks to the Texas crew legion/lumpy. The beer pours dark copper, dark enough that one cannot see through it, and kind of reddish in the light. Has a small but sticky head. Aroma is strong with a wet bark and fresh wet sugar cane sweetness. Definitely sweet, I should have expected it from this brewer but it still took me by surprise. Taste is a bit better, still sweet but it dies down as compared to the aroma. Other lambic-like qualities appear in the background, some oak and a faint sourness. Leaves a sugar candy aftertaste. It’s not all that bad, if only they could cut down the sweetness a bit. This was my first faro (as a lot of these ratings will probably say) and I could definitely see why the style was created; an alco-pop for the masses back in the day.

Amber orange with no head. Very sour vinous vinegar aroma and at the same time very sweet. Mega/Giant sediments in the bottle. Cloying sweet/sour taste. Metallic note. Barely drinkable!

Clear yellow with no head at all. Banana bubble gum style (skumbananer) Violently synthetic & sweet. Very soft & mild body with a very sweet & cloying banana taste.

Bottle. Nice black cherry and musty aroma. Cloudy dark red color with minimal head. Sweet-tart cherry flavor with light mustiness. Nice flavor - just on the edge of being syrupy. A nice beer for those who like sweet "lambics" but traditionalists will hate it.

Bottle. Sour barnyard and sugary peach aroma. Hazy orange brown with small head. Yeasty sweet peach mixed with a vinegar/barnyard flavor. Very sweet mixed with a lambic funkiness - off for either the sweetened lambic or a traditional.
