Clear pale golden colour, small frothy white head, recedes quickly, almost no lacing. Aroma grain, hay, bit soapy, vegetables. Flavour medium sweet, light bitter, cardboard; light to medium body, oily to watery texture, average carbonation. Finish is light bittersweet, quite thin beer in every department.

Clear deep golden colour, sometimes quite large bubbles which keep popping up all the way, good frothy slightly off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Fresh aroma sweet malty, grain, corn, grass. Flavour medium sweet and light bitter, malty. Light sweetbitter finish, bit metallic; acceptable lager.

Oct. ’14. A 0.355 l can kindly shared by Marko, thanks! It poured yellow body with almost no head. Grainy and eggy malt aroma. Flavor was lightly sour and a bit less sweet, very simple and very watery. A bit bitter in the finish, but almost entirely bland and watery. Some off notes too, but could not be much anyway. Boring.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with a fairly small and disappearing white head. Malty aroma, sweet grains also present. Taste is sweet and malty, little bitterness, a bit watery. May(a)be fine on a hot day on the beach, but nothing special, really.

Drinks of the World, Bern: I just couldn’t resist, as an American, to get a bottle from Cuba. I knew it would be rubbish, and it was not very good, but I couldn’t resist. Pours gold with white head. Aroma is grainy and skunky. Taste is light and sweet. Slight alcohol at the end, somehow. Low carbonation.

Cuba’s national standard lager, tasted as Cubanero Fuerte. Creamy, crackling, quite thick but quickly diminishing, snow white head leaving a fair amount of lacing, colour clear ’old gold’ with good fizz. Sweetish aroma, already a bit oxidized, bready malts, popcorn, minerals, iron, sourish touch and a chalky sweetishness reminding me a bit of aspartame; hops are nowhere to be seen. Sweetish, grainy onset with a hint of bready sweet malts, sourish grains again, clear corn presence, medium carbonation for this style; minerally and metallic body, hint of biscuit, with a mild, leafy and somewhat herbal hop bitterishness still showing up in the finish, drying a bit. Another bland pale lager indeed, but not as bad as expected. Still, it cannot convince me of associating Cuba with anything else than rhum and good cigars when it comes to the ’worldly’ pleasures.

Bottle from Mitsuya’s in Asagaya. Drank out of the bottle. Hint of pepper lodged between grain. Medium body. Crisp finish. Terribly boring...

15/II/15 - 33cl can @ home - BB: 23/I/15 (2015-227) Thanks to Erwin and Johan for the can!

Clear dark blond beer, big fizzy aery white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit sweet, sugary, some corn flakes, fruity touch, bit of banana. Aftertaste: bit grassy, corn flakes, sugary, some banana, metallic, little hoppy. Drinkable, but boring stuff as suspected. Hey, another Cuban tick! :p

350ml bottle [Cubanero]. Clear golden colour with small, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Muggy, grainy aroma, wet strawy, some malt spiciness. Taste is monotonous, minimally sweet pale malty, slightly grainy and strawy. Not absolutely "fuerte", but definitely for a Pale Lager.
