Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

I really wanted to like this beer for more than the novelty, but alas. Pours golden. Nose and taste is slight bitter. Very watery and low bodied. Rated 6/29/02

On tap at BBC in Hyannis. Pours a golden red with limited head. Great clarity. Light malt carries through the aroma. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Crisp malt with some spicy hops making themselves known.

Cask at Mr. Thomas Chop House, Manchester. Light brown with orange. Hoppy, light aroma. Peppery, light on malt, but decent caramel afterwards. Good balance. Hoppy finish, but relatively mild. Nice, still not very rich, but good.

Bottle at a tasting. Thanks David C. Clear golden with a light haze. Aroma is grainy with some buttery notes. Flavor starts with sweetish grainy malt and then turns bitter, earthy and a bit metallic. Medium-bodied.
