Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

Must be the black sheep of the Black Sheep Beer family, because it sure looked amber to me! Nose is caramelly malt with surprising banana and citrus notes I haven’t seen in British bitters before. Flavor shows 1) hop bitterness 2) maltiness and finishes with more hop bitterness.

Ok I have to admit that I bought it just for the name since I am a MP fan. I expected something average or even below that , but was pretty surpised. A decent good looking bitter. Crisp and malty. Balanced taste of fruit and spices. Very nice.

Cask at GBBF 2006. Handpull. Copper colour with thin off white head. Odd citrus aroma. Odd lemon, but more lime in the citrus mix. Some yeast. Some hopo on end. A little bizarre and not what I was expecting
