Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

[50cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell.] An opaque cola brown pour with a fast fading white head; sweet aroma with blackcurrants and berries; bitter tasting at first with charred grains, then some berry fruit and a touch of chocolate powder; leading to a gentle, lasting grainy bitterness to finish. Very pleasant.

Cask @ New Inn, Robertstown. Golden-blonde with a creamy head. Fairly standard hoppy brew, nothing bad though and is certainly session stuff.

Tastes a bit like ghost ship but that's not a bad thing. More soft maltiness than many ipa's but that's how an IPA from blacksheep should be.
A - malty bready light tropical citrus piney resin
F - caramel, bread, similar to aroma hops dont spring out but are nicely balanced with the malt

Can from Asda.co.uk; clear amber pour with a thin white head, aroma has tangerine and malts, taste has a hint of pine, some citrus, this is what a Poundland WIPA tastes like, valiant effort --- Beer merged from original tick of First Things Last on 29 Jul 2023 at 14:09 - Score: 6

440ml can from Asda. Golden in colour, with a small, white, head. Light aroma of citrus hops and slightly tart grapefruit. Flavour had some pine, more sharp citrus, light malts and finished with a dry edge. Good.

500ml bottle bought at Eide Handel. Steady, creamy, fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Almost black in body appearance. Slightly roasted, creamy malts on the nose, scent of chocolate. Moderately flavoured with chocolate malts together with a bite of liquorice, lactose backbone. Mid-sweet dark malty end, rather short. Smooth mouthfeel. Satisfying. (Tromsø, 01.07.2023).
