Seemed between a strong and a bitter. Clear body with thin white head. Grain aroma malt and something else. Full bodied. Lots of malt. Thin hop skin. Glad to get an English ale.

500ml bottle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a big fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, liqourice, very light chocolate. The flavour is liqourice bitter, with a slightly watery, liqourice, ashtray palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Way over-carbonated up front for a stout. Watery and almost no chocolate. This is supposed to be a milk stout but there was zero lactose. A really poor, mass produced beer.

Bottle from Nisa, Chester Road, London on 11th April 2020. Pours a clear golden amber with any foam quick to disappear. Caramel malt aroma with tangy fruits. Citrus and berry fruits in-mouth, with a fruity finish to follow, with caramel malt. Smooth mouthfeel and light body.

Cask @ GBBF 2017. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty weak hoppy aroma. Fruity malty weak hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty weak caramel hoppy finish.

300ml can at home. Pours a clear amber gold, thin off white head. Nose is candy sugar-like pineapple and tropical fruit drink. Taste is the same, like something from my childhood, Hi-C, or a juice box, combined with a beer.

Cask at Tan Hill Inn. Creamy off white head stayed on a light copper coloured still body. Malt aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the palate with a cloying back. Malt, caramel & sweet tastes with a tangy fruity finish

Cask, half-pint shared with Finn at Borough Arms. A beige head blanketing the glass. Clear mahogany body. Semi sweet smell of doughy malts, hints of nuts. Caramel malts flavours, hints of dark fruits. Mid-sweet malt-driven finish. Satisfying. (Crewe 26.01.2020).

Bottle from Asda 4 for £6. Pours an almost clear dark chestnut colour with a thin to medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruits, plums, caramel, toffee, nuts, brown bread and roasted malts. Taste has the same notes as the aroma but with a much more roasted flavour, hints of coffee and chocolate and an earthy hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied with a fairly smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. A long roasted earthy hop finish. A really good old fashioned dark ale.
