About
The brewing company of the Montseny was born with the desire to provide a craft beer of the highest quality: our beers are handcrafted and natural. We are a microbrewery with a productive capacity of 3.000 litres in each development. Through the system of English traditional elaboration (with maceration by the method of simple infusion), the production process is virtually manual. Because of these unique features of elaboration, handcrafted beers are produced. In the brewing of the Montseny we bottle natural beers and unpasteurised. The carbonic gas is generated naturally by the yeast that is contained in the bottle. We can say that they are living beers that evolve over time. The alcoholic fermentation is a traditional way to food processing to lengthen their preservation allows us to not add any artificial preservative to the beer. Our microbrewery specialises in beers of the family of the Ales or high fermentation, unlike the majority of the national productions, which are of the family of the Lager or bottom-fermented. It is recommended to drink our beers, if well fresh, less cold than the Lager.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of hazelnuts and sweet roast. Rich, roasty body, some sweetness, rather downplayed woody notes, they leave a little tannins but not much Brandy. Slightly tart. A barrel-aging a little to the rough side. 120318

Bottle. Close to jet black in color, oily pour, with just a thin rim of light tan bubbles as a head. Roasted malts, coffee grit, cocoa, booze and some prunes and raisin in the aroma. There seems to be more sweetness in this one than in the Brandy edition, with licorice, roasted malts, some coffee and a pleasant touch of dried fruits in the flavor. The Bourbon is quite subdued. Some bitterness too. It’s full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, some carbonation. Lasting roasted, lightly boozy finish with licorice and some coffee grit. A very fine one indeed, and in my opinion slightly better than the Brandy edition. 180210

Bottle. Close to jet black in color, oily pour, with no head or carbonation. Roasted malts, coffee grit, cocoa, booze and some notes of prunes and raisin in the aroma. It’s full-bodied and warming, with just a hint of carbonation. Rather dry for an Imperial Stout. Still some sweetness though, with licorice, roasted malts, cocoa, booze, raisins and a light bitterness touch. Lasting finish. A very pleasant one indeed, where the liquor is well integrated with the beer, not taking over. 180210

Poured at Shelton Festival, black with small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roast, dark chocolate, bourbon, wood, vanilla. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, hides alcohol well, very nice.
