Pours oily black with a thin tan head. Aroma of burnt malt, aromatic hops. Taste has sweet malt base, mildly earthy with and oily mouthfeel. Palate has lingering maple sweetness, residual mouthfeel. Schwarz in name and appearance only.

Pours clear gold with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet malt, floral grass. Taste has slightly acerbic malt with a nice influence of unique hop oils, slightly grassy and bready. Nelson hops are apparent on the nose. Much better than expected.

Almost black with a fleeting tan head. The very mild aroma promises toast, dust, and Bonbons. Sweet start, dominated by artificial cherry flavor. Fades off into a mild, toasted bitterness, but the medicinal notes remain. Doesn’t go anywhere pleasant in the end. Thin body, mildly oily. No thanks.

Bottle. Almost black colored. Roast and apple syrup in the aroma. Sweet flavor, with pear and only a hint of roast. Not unpleasant, but no top quality ingredients are used for this beer.

Roasted, chocolate, porter-like aroma. Black, medium tan head. Balanced light sweet and bitterness, a litter salt notes. Medium body. A bit thin.
