In 2005, Leonardo Di Vicenzo opened Birra del Borgo’s first brewery, Collerosso, in Borgorose, a small village located in the Valle del Salto, in province of Rieti, on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo. 2009 marked a watershed for Birra del Borgo with the opening of our new brewery. Moving out of our one-room space at Collerosso and into a modernized facility, our new brewery became the heartbeat of the company and cleared a way to fulfilling our brewing ambitions.

In 2015 Collerosso brewery begins new life. We rethought it entirely to pursue a new journey of research and discovery: Spontaneous Fermentation. Allowing wild yeast in the air to ferment the beer directly in the Coolship, marked an important milestone in our journey. Indeed, Collerosso and these beers represent our feeling to always change, to always strive to discover more. We are always restless and eager to see things from a different, unique, new perspective.

In 2016 Birra del Borgo was bought for 100% by AB InBev.

chiara buona schiouma persistente note fruttate erbacee in bocca buon equilibrio finale luppolato amaro leggermente acidula ma non so se voluto quasi citrica

ambrata buona schiuma persistenza abbastanza fine sentori agrumati fruttati in bocca leggermente acidula che la rende facile da bere mantenendo le notte fruttate ed un retrogusto pieno di luppolo

ambrata buona schima piuttosto grossolana persistente sentori netti di luppolo agrumato in bocca piuttosto secca l’amaro prevale cala forse un po nella tostatura del malto

Bottle. Unclear light to medium amber color with a huge, frothy, excellent lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, hay, moderate to heavy hoppy, grass, peper, spices, pepper. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, and moderate bitter with a long to average duration, and a nice dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is lively to soft. (171107)

bel colore ambrato buoa schiuma gasatura media profumi netti di luppoli agrumati come cascade note fruttate in bocca morbida buon malto e finale luppolato non astringente il corpo forse un poco esile rispetto ai gradi alcolici

scura schiuma non abbondante e non molto persistente sentori di tostato caffè liquirizia leggermnte dolce di malto un piccola nota di terbaceo secco di tabacco

Little head, orange-yellow beer with green sheen. Sherry-ish, vegetal aroma and lots of citrus in the nose - but tea? Tannines, and their astringency appear in taste & mouthfeel. Again mainly citrus flavours. Apart from the astringency, quite sour. Not great, but consistently OK.

No head; hazy yellow beer, with pistacchio shine. Very sourish & wheaty nose, banana ester and solvent aromas. Sourish taste, with a very, very dry finish. Astringent, dry, puckering... It might be refreshing, it is not very pleasing, IMO.

75 cL bottle, thanks to Thomas_E. Pours hazy yellow with a lacing white head. Mouldy slight off aroma. Slight sulphorish too. Thin mouthfeel. Slight citric into the finish which ends with a slight fruityness.
