From a 500ml bottle on 15/9/2019. Pours a murky apple juice colour with virtually no head. Has a fairly sharp spicy nose. Flavour wise, there's bugger all sweetness, with the claimed mango and pineapple barely presenting. Finishes with a quite salty, spicy and astringent bitterness which these days seems to be the hallmark of a bad NEIPA. Medium bodied with prickly carbonation. Harsh and a touch unpleasant.

Glass at the brewpub, Manly. Handpull from cask. Pours a golden amber with zero carbonation. Solid thin white head, nose is sweet and hoppy. Really smells English. Nice lacing. Mouthfeel is smooth as silk, this is super easy drinking. There's a hint of refreshing bitterness throughout but the finish is mostly sweet and nutty. It's a superb English pale ale with some late biscuity notes.

On tap at 4 Pines brewpub, Manly. Pours a pale yellow with a dissapating head. High champagne carbonation. Nose is pickles, nice! Sharp, refreshing, a little zing. The pickle is obvious but not overpowering. Some background malt and a little balancing sourness and, hey presto! Great beer, probably brilliant with burger and chips.

This has a very strong pineapple aroma, plus some pine needles, stone fruit and bread. A high alcohol XPA. Not really my thing.

(Bottle) Pours black with tan head. Very subtle aroma - hints of oats and maybe coffee. Full body, creamy / oily, slightly sticky with soft carbonation. Good taste, rich and dark. There’s a nice balance of sweet and bitter. The start is transiently just slightly tart and fruity then quickly becomes quite sweet and rich. This would be cloying if it were not for a balancing burnt sugar, dark toffee bitterness and some alcohol bite steadily replacing it. Very drinkable.

(Bottle) Pours clear pale gold with small white head. Nice tangy fruity aroma with hints of bread. Light body with good fine bright carbonation. Taste starts with a nice mix of tangy fruit and gentle biscuit malt. I would not have identified the fruit as kiwi without having read the label, but it’s nice, refreshing and subtly different. The biscuit notes grow along with a pleasant but quite subtle bitterness. There’s no hint of the relatively high alcohol. Very drinkable.
