(bottle, found at a local REWE market in Dortmund-Aplerbeck) Clear, golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Mildly grainy malty aroma with notes of biscuits, traces of caramel and honey, as well as a whiff of herbal hops. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Hearty and slightly biscuity malt-character with grainy notes and shades of caramel; sweet malty and delicately bitter hoppy finish. Clean and easy-going seasonal Lager, a nice surprise from the rather gridlocked beer scene in Dortmund. 11.X.14

The archetypical Dortmunder, with clear golden blonde colour and creamy but thin, quickly dissipating head. Delicate malt aroma, flowery hops, spicy accents. Pure, soft malt taste with relatively full mouthfeel (for a lager) and subtle, pleasant aromatic hops in the finish. Less dry than Kronen Export, a lighter version which apparently has been discontinued meanwhile.

Lighter version of the famed Kronen Export and a bit dryer. Thick, creamy, stable head, light golden blond colour, clear. Gentle but confident aroma of clean pale mals and flowery and soapy, aromatic hops. Pale malts taste, bit of hay, flowery hoppy finish. Very typical Dortmunder and not much difference in quality compared with Kronen Export.

Bottle looks good, also a nice cap. Beer in the glass not too zippy, small head. Starts.malty-wheaty, a bit moldy grasy. Modest sourish-soapy. Moldy aftertaste. Not really good.

Tap at Wenkers, Dortmund, 28/04/13. Clear golden with a thin white head. Nose is pale malts, cereal, light citrus, touch of sugars. Taste comprises cereals, grass, citrus, mimics the nose. Medium bodied, light spritzu carbonation, crisp and dry in the finish. On the bland side, average pils.

Bottle from Yormas at Dortmund Hbf, split on the 1709 train to Dusseldorf, 28/04/13. Clear pale golden with a thin white head. Nose is pale malts, light piss, citrus, sugars, cereals. Taste comprises light caramel, citrus, grass. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Blanodmeter rising ... dull.
