Cask gravity at Pigs Ear 2014. Haxy amber colour. Lasting white head. Grapefruit hop aroma. Bit harsh pink grapefruit on the finish. Quite sharp finish. But I grew to like it. aggressive but ok

Pigs Ear. Cask. As ’Bourbon Barrel Coffee Porter’. Opaque dark brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth and slightly dry dark malts, little estery sweetness. Very mellow bourbon. Light dry finish with a mellow malty bitter linger. Not bad.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry with a fine crispness. Nice light clean malts, little sweetness. Floral hops with good pithy orange and grapefruit. Trace of piney resin. Light finish and citric peel bitter linger. Nice.

Keg at The White Hart Brewpub, Whitechapel, London. A murky orange/golden/brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Hoppy, grapefruit, tangerine aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, grapefruit, tangerine, tropical fruit, dank. This was in the Kernel mould, nice stuff but served so bloody cold it spoilt it a little. Still a very nice DIPA though.

Keg at the White Hart, 24/10/14. Very lightly hazed golden orange with moderate off white edgeing. Nose is lemon, light yeast, vanilla, pinch of spice, straw, earthy tunes. Taste comprises yeast notes, lemon rind, apricot, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a lick of spritz that aids the drinkability. Adequate hefe, definately lower down the pecking order of the One Mile End beers on this evening.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours deep black-brown with a fine, tan foam head. Dark fruits in the nose with secondary notes of cocoa. Big sweet flavor with oily dark fruits, light roast, raisins, figs. Full bodied with fine carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Lightly warming on the finish with ripe, gooey dark fruits, subtle roasted malts, a bit of earth, charred wood. Not bad.

Cask at the White Hart, 24/10/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent off white covering that retains well. Nose is bitter citric peel, spice, pumpkin pie, apricot, sweet tunes. Taste comprises an earthy hop presence, spice, lighter shades of pumpkin when contrasted with the aroma, sticky tropical fruits. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet tunes in a semi drying close. Decent enough pumpkinner, a little more hop trop than most.
