In 2019 the brewery was bought by Hawkshead Brewery and brewing ceased in Lye. Beers under the Sadler's brand will be brewed at Hawkshead.

Bottle. Thick orangey and lightly brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is yeasty and well hopped, and the flavour is yeasty, roasted and dry. Overall a reasonable beer.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Paleish gold, thin beige head. Farty aroma. Quite ascetic on the lemon fruit. Fart/cardboard runs through it. Just not very nice. Good condition, some lemon on finish, but overall not very good and I left some of it.

Cask conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham 21/01/09. Gold in colour with a slight white head. Aroma of citrus hops with a hint of summer fruit. Flavour started sweetish, before some more fruit, grassy hops and a short bitter finish. Good.

Bottle. Blackish brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is mildly roasted and the flavour is roasted, slightly sweet but largely bitter at the finish. Overall a nice bitter stout with a hint of richness and milky’ness.

Bottle. Bright golden yellow beer with a weak head. The aroma is lightly hopped and the flavour is very dry and strongly hopped. Overall an average beer.

Cask at GBBF08. Hazy yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour is quite subtle, hay and weak citric notes. Medium bitterness.

Cask@GBBF2008. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is eggy, soapy and quite yeasty. Flavour is quite much the same. Not very pleasant. Eggy, wooden and mildly fruity aftertaste.

Cask, Thomas Rigby’s Liverpool. Middling orange colour with a frothy dissipating white head. Sweetish, citrus aroma type affair. Mallty, biscuity flavour Bitter finish. Ok but a bit boring. Great name though wizzzz.

Cask gravity at London Drinker BF 08. Gold, lasting bubbly white head. Bit of tea, some rather unattractive bleach. Bit of butter on aroma. Definite tea as well. Not entirely attractive.

Cask (handpump) @ Cat, Enville DY7, UKClear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy / creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, toffee, butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily / creamy, carbonation is soft / flat. (130108) 6-3-7-3-14 Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, keller, sour cereal, sour socks. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
