Since changing our name from Topsham & Exminster Brewery in 2008, we have expanded ever more rapidly. We now have a fantastic site in Cowley Bridge Road where we have a retail shop and Tap-Room Bar. The Tap-Room is open every Thursday evening from 5pm to 11pm. Curry nights. Every last-Friday of the month the Tap room opens as normal, but we offer a curry, prepared and served by ARC Events. You don’t have to eat, just enjoy a drink, but the curries are great – takeaways available too.

Three hand-pulled pints on 7th Dec 2019; The Mitre, Witheridge Devon. Dark brown with a red hue, off-white head of smooth bubbles. Spiced with winter spices with fruit cake like dried fruitiness. Sounds more exciting than it was actually.

Cask at The Three Magpies. Clear golden, light foamy head. Light cracker aroma. Taste is also light, barely there. Nice creamy body, but not enough flavor

(Cask at Harp, Charing Cross, London, 29 July 2019) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, coffee and prunes. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, dark fruit, prunes, raisins, chocolate and a mild roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Fairly fruity for a stout, but tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

[ On tap at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence.] A straw coloured pour with a ring of white head; floral aroma; sweet floral taste with a grainy body and a touch of honey; then a light grassy bitterness to finish. A pleasant lager style beer.

Cask at Black Horse, New Haw. Copper gold. Low key floral aroma. Creamy white head. medium bitter with a sweet fruity streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat. Abrupt carbonation. Wasn't expecting much but slipped down well. Unfortunately it had just gone off when I asked for another.

[ As Exeter Ferryman ].
ABV: 4.2%. Clear medium amber colour with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sweet malt, fruity malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, caramel, fruity malt, burnt bitter - caramel, bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20190724]

Cask at pub in london.Clear dark orange smooth offwhite head. Very mild slightly spicy aroma flavor is caramelly toffee a bit bland. I prefer my bitter a bit more crisp.

[Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence.] A chestnut coloured pour with a scummy looking head; malty aroma; sweet earthy malt taste; with some caramel and vanilla and a wood finish. A comforting old style bitter.
