Description

2009 resample in Munich. Golden-amber with no head. Brown sugar. Nice little aroma and good raisiny notes. Rich, malty character. Very cool toffee notes with a hint of toast.

Old rate, 2002: Dark brown w/red highlights. Thick malt aroma w/cherries, brown sugar, alcohol; very thick, molassesy, earth tones, chewy. Good doppelbock for those who like the style. 7-2-7-3-14 = 3.3

From the wood @ Munich. Golden, almost flat but with a thick head. Big bready character with wood accents. Big rounded bread character with a slightly woody, fresh pale malt finish. Full bodied. Balanced.

A fantastic pilsnener from Munich: The looks are pretty ordinary, golden/yellow with a bit weak head, but as soon as you stick your nose into the glas you will be overwhelmed by a motherload of flowery aromahops. The hops are there in the taste too, nicely balanced with a medium body. I have to get more of theese!

I don't know what they call this in Germany, so it's tough to know precisely what I was drinking, but I wasn't impressed. Light gold colour, light palate, some malt accent (but not much), very faint hint of pears. This is one of Munich's best breweries?
