Description

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 15 22:49. AROMA: high malt aroma with sweet notes, mixed with a moderate-high spicy alcohol, and moderate-high fruity esters (pears and slight oranges). Hop aroma imperceptible, The alcohol evolves into a perfumy character. APPEARANCE: strong glod color and translucent. medium to large off-white to ivory head with medium-low retention. some leg formation. FLAVOR: initial malty sweet flavor of moderate intensity, followed by spicy phenols and more restrained fruity esters (faint pears). Medium bitterness to support the malt and a semi-dry to dry finish. PALATE: medium to medium-high carbonation, with a smooth texture as well a present alcohol warmth, but not hot. some leg formation. medium body. OVERALL: a nice trapppist single with a lot of aroma commplexity and a balanced flavor between sweetness and bitterness, giving it an almost dry finish. however, it would gain from more bitterness, more hop presence, and less alcohol warmth.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a light golden color with a slight haze and a fairly large white head. Aroma is hay, bread, Belgian yeast, and some spice with some fruitiness. Taste follows, with some banana notes. Pretty good.

0.33l bottle. Clear golden body, huge, rocky white head. Aroma of bread, hay, pears, orange zest and some spices. Taste of sweet bread, orange zest, nutmeg and a significant amount of earthy, grassy hops. Medium bodied and fizzy. Very nice.

Bottle @ home. Gushing all around. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Sour and infected beer. Very disappointed, maybe a bad bottle? Will rerate on a next occasion.

Clear golden colour, large frothy white head, good retention, good lacing. Aroma of pale malts, yeast, bread, fruity, light grapefruit, grapes, dough, coriander, ginger, herbs. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, fruity, bit citrusy, light salty touch, with long duration. Mild bittersweet finish, touch of alcohol, light herbal notes, full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation; elegant and refined Blond, really excellent stuff.
