Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

OnTap at PreFunk, Nampa Nice clear light brown. Very nice toasted malt aromas and flavors. Some cracker and biscuity character and a decent noble hop bite. A good example of a style that I don't typically love.

From tap at Gullkorn, Hamar, with UKM people 19.09.19. Traslucent pale straw colour. Diminishing white head. Decent lacing. Aroma and taste of lemon, papaya, pineapple, passion fruit, sorrel and pilsner malt. Medium bitterness.

Tap at iBrew Shinbashi. Dark red brown colour, small thin gold head. Taste is ultra hoppy, cat pee, quite earthy, bit of citrus. Aroma is same ultra hops, overwhelming cat pee. Bit of sweet maltiness there too, but almost totally hidden by hop hit. Bit of a sledgehammer. Not very subtle. Not horrible but not my thing. Brutish. Rerate: Jan 15. Bottle. Light spice, light resin hop. Nowhere near as full on as last time. Taste is malt dominated. Little bit of bitterness, bit more caramel, bit of black treacle. Brown bread. Good stuff. Hugely different score.

Tap at Bamboo. Rye weirdness, pine, bit of funk. Quite dry and bit fruity. Interesting, but not as interesting as previous rye beers I've had. Not sure I really get Heretic yet.

Bottle. Dry and nutty. Chocolate in the taste and hazelnuts again. Oaty aroma. Cocoa powder taste. Sweet but subtle, bit of vanilla and cream. Roasty too. Dryness is the thing. Yum

Tap at Grub. Spice is nice. Little bit of grapefruit and orange. Decent spiciness. Not so much else. But I'm a bit of a sucker for the habanero. Boozy.

From a can. Hazy pale orange pour with a full off white head. Lots of great light sweet orange notes on very nice NEIPA in its own right. Quite tasty.

From bottle. Amber color. Red fruit and grass in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweetish, caramelly flavor. Hint of metal in the finish.
