Tastes kind of like nuts. I don’t see where the chocolate the menu mentions is coming from. There’s a little foam, not much tracing. Dark brown colour. In general pretty forgettable beer. Didn’t say scotch on the menu I had but then again it didn’t say much. On tap at brewpub.

The one’s the worst one yet. Tastes like nothing decent. Foul, astringent aftertaste. No trace of anything redeeming whatsoever. Avoid this one at all costs. On tap at brewpub.

It’s not that bad for the style. THere’s a bit of a wheat bitterness to it that gives it some kind of flavor other than chemical wellness. I’d drink it before molson or something like that. Actually some nice tracing. On tap at brewpub.

It’s better than hoegaarden but it ain’t much. It’s kind of got a light wheat taste, some yeast. A tiny bit of citrus. Some grainy bitterness at the end. Some kind of sudsy carbonation. On tap at brewpub

Bottle: Poured a deep golden color ale with a good size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of sweet malt with light peppery yeast with subtle floral undertones. Taste is a good mix between some sweet Belgian malt notes with some light peppery yeast notes and some dry floral undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed though lacking some of the fruity ester that I usually enjoyed in this style.

Swingtop bottle from the brewpub in Lille
Clean amber color, with too much carbonation and huge head. Some aroma of hops and vegetables. Correct body strength, with spicy malt flavor, coriander, some residual sweetness, and strong bitterness; as expected, also some vegetables, but light. Flawed but drinkable.

Swingtop bottle from the brewpub in Lille
Cloudy amber color; too much carbonation, hence big head, reducing to a smaller creamy layer. Some aroma of malt, apples, vegetables. Soft malt flavor, with high carbonation; there is some spiciness; overall it’s a pleasant spicy Saison, with a touch of vegetables.

75cl bottle bought from the brewpub and drunk on train on way home. Orangey red colour clear collar pink bubbles. Well even before i get it to my nose I can smell the sweet artificial cherry. I mean this is a joke. Blondish base beer u gyess with kiddie sweet cherry flavouring over the top. Some hop sting on finish. I mean it has elements of a bakewell tart in terms of fruit its that sweet. I cant believe this beer has seen a cherry in its sad short existance. I mean really. Base beer is ok. No faults just horrible faux fruit.

75cl bottle from the brewery in Lille drunk at home. Hazy mid brown colour with thickish beige head. Yes a slightly nutty strongish amber beer. Woody nutty aroma. Touch of orange spice, woody. Never drunk Picon so can’t tell you what it tastes like, but I rather liked this. Good smoothness in the mouth, good freshness. I mean the cherry beer was rubbish but the rest of the beers from Lille were fine. As was this. Still the Biere de Mars was probably the best.
