En fût à l’établissement sur la rue Sainte-Catherine au centre-ville de Montréal. De couleur ambrée dorée légèrement voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (agrumes, pêche, bananes), léger de malt (caramel très doux) ainsi que des notes d’épices (notes de poivre et de muscade?). Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un moyen-fort pétillement et une texture aux notes aqueuses. Goût de levures fruitées légèrement sucrées, aux petites notes sûres (pêche, léger de cantaloup, bananes, notes d’agrumes et de poires), légèrement épicé (poivré, notes de muscade) et aux notes acétyles lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût légèrement malté (caramel très doux) auquel vient se joindre progressivement un léger goût amer de houblon floral (faibles notes sèches et herbeuses) jusqu’en finale. Arrière-goût court et un peu sec, légèrement amer de houblon avec un léger goût fruité (zest d’agrumes, traces de pelures de poires).

En fût, à l’établissement situé sur la rue St-Denis à Montréal. De couleur ambrée rouge et semi-voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (orange, notes de pêche et de cantaloup), très légèrement malté du genre caramel doux avec des notes de miel et de rôti ainsi que quelques effluves de houblon floral et herbeux. Rondeur mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-élevé et une texture aux petites notes aqueuses. Goût de levures légèrement fruitées et quelques peu acétyles (agrumes, léger de pêche et notes de melon) ainsi que des notes épicées (léger de poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût de malt doux (caramel très doux, notes de miel) légèrement terreux et aux notes rôties puis vient ensuite une légère amertume de houblon floral ainsi qu’un léger regain d’épice (poivre et des notes herbeuses) en finale. Arrière-goût court, légèrement amer de houblon et de rôti léger avec uneléger goût fruité (zest d’agrumes).

Draught, in Strasbourg, as La Brune. Dark chestnut colour, seemingly clear. Stable, creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts. Vinous, earthy, roasted, sweet flavour. The aftertaste has a sour touch. 6 3 6 3 15

Draught at the brewpub in Toronto as Dark Ale. Weak roasted aroma. Seemingly unclear dark brown colour. Very small tan head. OK roasted flavour, a little tart and unclean. 5 3 5 3 11

Draught, in Strasbourg. Lemon aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Stable, creamy white head. The flavour is citric with medium bitterness. The carbonation is plenty, but feels mild. 6 3 6 3 14

Draught at the brewpub in Toronto. Weak spicy aroma, a bit like cough syrup. Cloudy yellow colour. Almost no head. The flavour is also mildly spicy, cough syrup again. OK refreshing, though. 6 3 6 3 13

Draught, in Strasbourg. Clear orange/amber colour. Small white head. Earthy, malty flavour. Medium bitterness in aftertaste. 6 3 6 3 14

Draught at the brewpub in Toronto as Red Ale. Almost clear amber colour. Very small almost white head. The flavour is mildly malty, has a sourish tartness, very subtle, and not a problem. A bit sweet. 5 3 5 3 11

Draught, in Strasbourg. Sweet, spicy aroma. Sparkling, clear golden colour. The head is white, but almost non-existant. Slightly spicy flavour. Has a good, distinct hoppiness which goes on into the aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad. 7 3 7 3 15

Draught at the brewpub in Toronto. Mild spicy aroma, teaish and with a grassy hop note. Hazy yellow colour, sparkling. Very small white head. The flavour is quite spicy, some coriander. Hint of citrus. Like a Belgian wit. OK mild sweetness. Medium clean bitterness in the finish. 6 3 6 3 15

On tap Montreal This starts with a large off white head that lasts briefly revealing a dark brown body beneath. Light malt aroma with a solvent note to it. The flavor surpasses the aroma however and there are some chocolate and nuts in the flavor and a dry chalky finish. Needs a little more body and flavor intensity as do most of this brewers beers, but certainly a drinkable brew.

On tap Montreal Large frothy white head that briefly covers a dark amber beer. The aroma has some nice caramel notes and flowery perfume from the hops, but carries a solvent aroma that is the big detractor. The flavor follows what the aroma has prepared you for. Largely unremarkable.

On tap Montreal Large flleting head of white over a hazy yellow body. Light malt and hop aroma with a hint of spice. The aroma carried a spicy note and the flavor followed it up with a lightly sweet spritzy palate. Not bad although certainly not the best of this style that I’ve had.

On tap Montreal Large head of white topping a light yellow beer. Light malt aroma and flavor but largely unremarkable. Light watery drinkable. If you like Gordon Biersch or Hops beers, you’ll like this one.
