Draught at O’Brien’s, San Diego. Clear deep golden, no head. Massive grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel and loads of perfumy hops. Striking bitter finish. A hop monster with finesse (and a fair bit of alcohol.)

Burgundy colour. Relatively mild nutty aroma, maybe some wishful malty accents. Notes of alcohol, light malt/caramel plus maybe some mild spices. It’s got a Belgian character and a complexity but in this instance it perhaps just doesn’t vibe with me.

Hazy light amber colour. Soapy, perfumey hop character with strawlike pale malts adding to the mix. Fresh, fruity character with light dusty yeast notes, hints of pear and a good amount of brett. Great beer - takes the effort of a master and utilizes it in a beer for the proletariat without either dumbing it down nor pricing it up. Kick ass.

Dark brown colour. Sweet character with rich malts, luscious chocolate and spicy hops. Very spicy, rich and a little toffeeish. Wow. Great style, complexity. Nutty, chocolatey, toffeeish, spicy hops, foresty hops...what’s not to like?

Golden colour, with no particular effervescence. Fruity aroma - apples and pears. Light background malt. Sweet and fruity starter beer, not really any more Belgian nor unusual than Alexander Keith’s.

Slightly hazy light amber, tons of papaya, sugary pale malt. Dripping with delicious hops, slightly floral, hints of mango, mellow and sweet...this beer lives up to its rep.

Hazy light amber colour. Wonderful aroma - pine cones, lemon, cumin seed, mango. The flavours are the same megahoppy complex, fruity, piney, grapefruity characteristics. The malts are a bit thin, however, and this has a negative impact in the body and the finish.

Near black. Chocolatey aroma, slightly roasty. Full body, very mocha-like, with only a hint of roasty dryness. Creamy body. Standard stout.

Burgundy colour. Sweet and bubblegummy and raisiny. A bit effervescent in the finish, which breaks up the rich sweetness. Fairly complex for the style, low on the yeastiness but with a fairly estery aroma. Not cloudy enough for me visually.
