Black colour with a beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Light body. Oh yeah this is sweet stout. Heavy sugar sweetness. No bitterness at all. Rich sugary sweet malty flavour with some vanilla. Actually a waterish texture.

Keg pour at Jackson's Bar in Glasgow and revisited at The Alton in Kilwinning. Smooth ale with a dark golden glow and a thick creamy head. Has a fair malty-bitterness.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear pale golden color with large frothy white head and lively carbonation. Aroma of grainy malts, fruits, grassy hops and some skunky notes, too. Taste is average lager-like, nothing special, with light bitter finish. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Average macro lager, still better than many Austrian or German lagers...

Canette 500ml.

On tap in Gretna. A very pretty looking beer but very drab after that. Not one to rave about.

On tap @ the Findlay Hotel, Fraserburgh. Pours golden with steady bubbles and some head. The nose has honey malt and the hops come through as a grassy or metallic note at the end. The taste has caramel and the metallic note is confirmed. The palate is spoilt somewhat by the metallic finish as it’s not bad up to that point. Overall, just about drinkable.

On tap @ Bert’s Bar. Pours dark amber with a decent head. The nose has toffee, some spice and sweet malt. The taste has more of the sweet malt and toffee with a slight astringency towards the end. The palate is medium in body, creamy in texture and as mentioned already, a slight malt bitterness rather than any hop freshness at the end. Overall, it’s another mediocre offering from the makers of Tennents.

Half a pint from tap at Bar Bacca, Belfast. Clear light golden with a white head. Lightly malty aroma with hints of fruit, soap and vegetables. Just another industrial pale lager - drinkable, but quite boring and not much flavour. Some bitterness in the finish and slightly watery. (2011-06-10)
