Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 24/09/24. Slightly unclear mahogany brown topped with a light beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is stewed fruits, vinous, herb, toffee, dried berry skins. Taste comprises toffee, dates, fruit cake mix, caramelised brown sugars, touch of tangy cherries. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced spike of alcohol. Tidy old skool leaning sipper.

Can. Just a light haze on this amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. We have pretty decent caramel cream malts, albeit in a somewhat thin mouthfeel. Where you would normally expect rich ripe fruits to kick in, well, this does happen but their intro is somewhat hijacked by a light but tart cherry. Light finish. The cherry addition lightens and brightens this barleywine but to me, also missed the point of having a rich and rewarding brew. That said, this may be a corker in a few years, when the cherry has lost its edge. Overall still very good.
