Established in 1996
In 1996, our first 25 barrel batch was brewed on a Brick Kettle Brewing System from England at our Battle Creek, MI location. Fast-forward – today every batch is produced in our 50 barrel American-made brewhouse at our Kalamazoo Riverfront Brewery, Pub and Garden. Our 20th Anniversary in 2016 ushered in a new era of brewing possibilities with the installation of two new 100bbl closed fermentation tanks giving us the ability to use new yeast strains while we continue to brew classic Arcadia Ales using our distinctive, proprietary yeast strain in our traditional, open fermenters. The ability to brew with new yeast strains opens up the Arcadia Brewing Company portfolio of offerings, allowing our brewers to be creative in ways that were not previously accessible and broadening the scope of beers produced. With these changes, we still keep our promise to use only the finest domestic and English malted barley, along with the highest quality hops available from the Pacific Northwest and Michigan.
Admin Note: Formerly named Arcadia Brewing Co. In the spring of 2014, Arcadia completed a new production facility in Kalamazoo, MI. The Battle Creek facility closed in 2016. The company ceased all operations in September 2019.
In June 2020, the Superfluid Supply Co. division of Short's Brewing announced its purchase of Arcadia's beer brands and intellectual property. Whitsun Ale was the first release with plans to resurrect other recipes in the future as well.

Replacing an older review. 2005 vintage, sampled 10 November 2006. Deep, murky molasses-like body, thin buff head. Aroma of bitter roasted malt, milk chocolate, and alcohol. The body starts with chocolate and roasted malts, but quickly develops an interesting fruity (grape-like) sweetness, followed by charred malts, bitter hops, and an earthy, chalky finish. A full-bodied, rich beer, but not as potent as many other local imperial stouts.

Bottled, thanks hopsrus!!
Completely black with brown head. Striking aroma of chocoalate and dried fruits. Sweet and peppery, perhaps less malty than some other imperial stouts, notes of raisin. Hoppy salty finish.

Replacing earlier notes. Starboard is a pretty unique stout, opening with an unusual sugary, soapy aroma. IMO this borders on a roasted brown ale, with plenty of brown sugar, a touch of soy, and an interesting grapiness. Roasted malt flavors are rather subdued. Thin-bodied, finishing with woody notes. Is somewhat dissimilar to most sweet stouts so this is perhaps best considered on its own merits, regardless of style.

Part of an Arcadia sampler: Pours almost black with a medium but quickly dissipating light brown head. Decent lacing. Aroma of coffee and malt. Flavor was creamy and somewhat thin, consisting of chocolate, coffee, and malt. Finish was creamy and slightly metallic. Interesting but not great.

Part of an Arcadia sampler: I found this to be a really good Scotch Ale. Poured a dark brown color with minimal head and thin lacing. Aroma of malt, cinnamon and alcohol. Flavor is stong malt with caramel and alcohol present, along with a zippy tongue feel. This is one of the better Arcadia brews I have tried so far. This beer is also deceptive in that it feels like you are drinking a higher-alcohol beer than you actually are.
Dogbrick (24322) reviewed Nut Brown Ale from Arcadia Brewing Co. 23 years ago

Part of and Arcadia sampler: This was a pretty good nut brown, poured a dark brownish-amber with virtually no head or lacing. Strong nut aroma. Flavor was not very rich but was nutty with some malt. Lightly bitter and nutty finish. A better-than-average brew.

Part of and Arcadia sampler: This is a decent IPA but really doesn''t compare to some of the better ones I have had lately (Ruination, 90 Minute etc). Dark murky orange/copper color with a thin off-white head. Very thin lacing. Aroma was somewhat hoppy (are those fuggles?) with a little citrus. Flavor was hoppy with a light malt balance and a light toasty finish. While on the weak side there was really nothing offensive going on here. This would probably be a good starter IPA.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5
Part of and Arcadia sampler: Copper color with an thin orange/beige head and minimal lace. Toasty aroma of malt and caramel. Flavor was malty and smooth, if a little weak. The finish was not as bitter as I was hoping.
Dogbrick (24322) reviewed Angler's Ale from Arcadia Brewing Co. 23 years ago
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6
Part of and Arcadia sampler: Not a very good translation of the style. Pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that disappeared quickly. Thin and quick lacing. Aroma was malty and slightly pungent. Flavor is mostly malty with a hops presence and kind of sour aftertaste. This was too mild to be a great EPA in my opinion.
