Take a Hike!®
Inspired by the 273-mile hiking trail that traverses through the Green Mountains, Long Trail Brewing Company has been a caretaker of Vermont craft since 1989. Moved and motivated by the local culture and surroundings, we work hard to create beers worthy of our Vermont roots. From small batch recipes developed in our farmhouse-turned-pilot-brewery to wider ranging staples like our flagship Long Trail Ale and freshly formulated Trail Hopper IPA, our brewers are committed to crafting a trail-worthy family of beers.

Bottle. Clear very deep amber to mahogany. Caramel, burnt malts, earthy, plums, cherries, soft pecans, bitter weedy hops. Quite sweet but also solid bitter. Crisp full body with quite some carbonation. Really not bad.

Pour is a cloudy blonde with a ginormus white head. Aroma is yep blackberries. Flavor is blackberries with a huge tartness I was not expecting. Finish is clean and leaves some of the blackberry on the tongue. Thin all around but the blackberries were there and did not seem artificial.

Taste starts sweet and rich malty and juicy stone fruity, following is herbal, citrusy and medicinal, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is dry and heavy bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Downhill IPA…

Can from Market Basket
Mostly clear deep gold color with a decent sized frothy white head that persists. Bready crackery malt with earthy citrus hops to counter. Clean well made quaffable beer for an 85 degree day.

Gold with a foamy, white head. Citrus, juniper, fruit-candy aroma. Taste is bitter with strong menthol undertones. Finishes much the same, mildly citric, with more menthol. At the very end, a sudden cereal bitterness more reminiscent of Helles. Medium-bodied , moderate carbonation, dry, too rough and unbalanced to feel refreshing. Drinkable though, says the Frau.
