Description
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

[355ml bottle from Sainsbury’s - labelled as "North American Craft Beer" rather than "Belgian White Ale" and brewed by BMBC in Toronto.] Cloudy orange with thin white head; aroma has some citrus and some grain; flavour the same, rather soapy and floury mouthfeel. Refreshing, but nothing more.

Bottle. Pour is a yellow body with a smallish white head. Aromas promise sweet sugars and lemon. Flavor is a mess of honey sweetness and lemon that ends in the drain.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-brown color. Moderately spicy, but lacks the thickness of a true Pumpkin Ale. The malt profile comes across a little thin and adjuncty as well. Not unenjoyable, just not up to par for the style.

Pours with a clear orange-brown body with a small, foamy off-white head that goes quickly. Aroma of hay, nutmeg, allspice, pumpkin and cinnamon. Taste is very watery, with hay and astringency, then some unconnected spices. Fizzy and dry.

12 oz. bottle obtained from a pile of donated beer at a fundraiser. I will admit this kind of scares me. Dated Sept 7. 08. Straw yellow color with a huge head. Very grainy, slightly grassy and very sweet aroma with definite honey notes. Oh my freaking lord when I finish poring the bottle the yeast enters looking like it has the consistency of cottage cheese. That just sent an average appearance rating plummeting. Taste is honey and the faintest wheat notes. Cloyingly sweet. Drain pour.

Pours bright amber into a shaker. No head whatsoever. Caramel malt aromas - no pumpkin. Crisp and sweat from front to back. Caramel sauce dry finish. Not a bad amber, but docked for lack of pumpkin.

Bottle. Pour is a cloudy straw color with a bit of a white head and agressive aromas of 7-up like lemon/lime with a touch of sweetness. Flavor is a little better, but still reminds me of 7-up. The citrus balances out the wheat and yeast graininess, but it still is a little too sweet. Not going to win any awards by my books, but OK.

Did I have a bad bottle. Now I’m not fond of pumpkin beer anyway, but this swill does absolutely nothing for me. A terrible bitter and musty earthness that overpowers any form of beer. No Thanks.
