Description
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a cloudy peach color with a small foamy off white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was very strong sweet mango. The flavor was bready and wheaty with a moderate mango note. Medium length finish. Medium bodied and a bit chewy.

33 cl can bought as Belgian Moon in Jasper Wine Cellar, Alberta, then enjoyed at Wapiti Campground under a magnificent rainbow by the Athabasca river. Beautiful day. The beer pours a hue in between golden and lemon-yellow, with a white-ish head that starts thick and strong but wanes off rapidly to leave just a ring. Aroma is cilantro (rather than coriander), bread dough, lemon. Mouthfeel is medium fizziness, medium to full body, crisp, watery, short-lasting, bitterless. Easy to drink.

Pours a clear bronze color with a beige head and decent retention. No lacing. Light spiced aroma. Good wheat base beer with just the right amount of caramel, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Good balance of flavors. Great fall beer.

Bottle. Hazy honey yellow to orange colour. Small but well-lacing head. Aroma: fairly spicy. Fat coriander, orange zest. Wheat malt. Light to medium body. Soft carb. Taste. Your regular witbit but of spiciness that is totally out of balance. No elegance. No like.

Bottle at home. Poured really cold with a cloudy and turgid appearance with little head. A strong aroma of yeast on the nose. The taste was yeasty with perhaps some malt coming through, but overall subdued. The mouthfeel however was as smooth as silk and this slipped down a treat on a blindingly hot day. Not much flavour, but great drinkability and very thirst quenching.
