Description

Crooked Stave Brewing Company is an artisan microbrewery in Denver, Colorado. It was founded by beer lover and beer brewer Chad Yakobson. The establishment of Crooked Stave was the result of Chad’s years of travel and studies about beer brewing abroad. His study of Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling at a university in Scotland gave him the expertise to set up his own brewery. Crooked Stave brewery is known for their brewing specialty in Brettanomyces fermentations and barrel-aged sour and wild ales. Crooked Stave Brewing Company is home to some of the finest sour beers. Some of its remarkable beers are the Crooked Stave Surette, Crooked Stave Vieille and Crooked Stave St. Bretta.

Brun uklar med beige skum. Lukter syltet bær, fyrstikk og noe trevirke. Fruktig og noe sursyrlig. Smaker sure bær, rips, eddik og trevirke. Middels lang.

Can. A- Roasty, cocoa, mild vanilla. A- Dark brown head, dark liquid, beige head. T- Roasty, char, faint coconut, subtle marshmallow, cocoa. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- Much more roasty than I anticipated. Some marshmallow but really a fairly dry stout. Certainly not sweet. Okay.

Pint Can. Hazy dark yellow color with a medium sized white head that has good retention. The aroma is medium-strong with mangoes and something grainy. The taste has some mango, but there is also a good dose of cooked vegetables. The palate is light and crisp with soft carbonation. Finishes short and weird, Overall: Not so good, almost a drainpour. I regret buying a four pack, but a reputable brewer like crooked stave seemed a good bet.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Deep reddish amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is tartness, some acidity and mild red berries and cherries. Flavour is vinegary acidic with some red berries, dark ripe berries, some fruity tones with a bunch of wood. Really smooth and nice as for the dry palate.
