Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow colour. Big white head. Flavour is like wheat beer mixed with carbonated water. Perhaps this is just watered down Erdinger.

Bottle: Reddish amber coloured, big, fluffy brownish head, quickly diminishing; sweet-malty, caramelly nose with distinctive fruity/vinous notes and a tinge of cinnamon (?) or liquorice; bitter-sweet flavour, fizzy mouthfeel, well hidden alcohol, deceptively light bodied; quite dry fruity and malty finish. Very good, but lacks a bit complexity.....................

Bottle. Hazy yellow in colour. White long lasting head. Weak aroma of wheat. A little sweet malty aroma with some citrus and banana hints. Not one of the best weissbier out there.

Dark brown dunkel, hazed with quickly collapsing light brown head. Light spices in aroma, very faint. Light watery malt with light bananas, very boring dunkel, bought as a gift pack, LCBO.

Da war doch was....6, setzen. Best before end 12/2005 bottle consumed on 12/16/2005. Pours a hazy copper-goldenrod color. Slightly muted in tone, not as shimmering and light-tinted as the style demands, I believe. The head is initially large and fluffy (white), well-retained, but lacking any lacing. Carbonation is seemingly low, and only sparse bubbles rise lazily to the surface. Aroma: Very dry wheat. Creamy, lightly biscuity, with white sourdough and just a faint pinch of lemon juice. Bananas are noticeable, but are weak and drowned out in the strong yeast dryness and even stronger wheat dryness. Just bland and doughy. No lively bubblegum, clove or citrus zest and no trace of any honey-like malts. A touch salty and rather stale smelling. Very weak in strength as well. Flavor seems to confirm that this bottle is either A) much passed its prime (though it is still within in the best before date) or B) not a well-made weisse. I’d hope to think the former. The low carbonation seems to be a good indicator that perhaps this has been heated too much at some point and sat out for too long a period of time. Doughy, lightly grainy malts are briefly sweet, but passing completely to a strong wheat creaminess in texture brought on by a huge dry wheat flavor. Bit more of saltiness/seltzer water. Sponge bread, hint of bananas and lemons. No clove, hops or bubble gum and the mouthfeel is sluggish, the texture loose. No alcohol apparency. Would like to try a fresher bottle for sure. 4/4/5/2/8
Draught weizen glass at Beacon Street Pub. on 6/22/07
Much improved, so I’m going to change the rating to reflect this experience. Must have been too old a bottle previously. This still showed a golden-hay colored body with a moderate amount of head, light lacing.
Wheaty with soft honey, lemon and light bubble gum. Not your typical blast of bubble gum or clove and not all that doughy or yeasty (in terms of actual yeast blandness, not ester production). Probably filtered and then redosed with yeast? I dont know. The flavor was fairly estery, but without any real acidity/doughiness, and mostly a chewy, hay-like flavor from the wheat and barley. Interesting, refreshing and a nice, light, drinkable rendition. Clean, with a fair amount of wateriness, but nothing out-of-style.
