Best before end 12/2005 bottle consumed on 12/15/05. Spectacular amount of dense, creamy chalk colored head is perfectly retained throughout the entire drinking experience, while the low filtration, lots of sediment in the bottle create an opaque, dark black olive and mahogany brown body with hints of muted auburn on the edges. Lacing all down the glass as well. Aroma is a smooth, yet intoxicatingly strong mix of creamy wheat, light cherry esters, hints of velvety milk chocolate, traces of bananas (very light) and bubblegum. It is all well-homogenized (as the flavor proves to be) and at first can be mistaken for not very complex. But as the beer warms and breathes, the aroma is able to be picked apart, quite easily, with just a wonderful balance of yeasty fruit esters, chocolate, wheat and ligth toffee/honey. The flavor is immediately full of soft fruits. Chocolate covered cherries dipped in wheatmeal, with sweet, but subtle vanilla and touches of mild roast (only trace hints of bitterness from it). Bubble gum arrives, quite subtle, on the end, mixed with a light spiciness (very slight clove) and finally a chocolate-caramel ending. If the beer is noticeably less complex, overall, than Aventinus, it, perhaps, makes up for it in mouthfeel and restraint of carbonation. Tight, tight bubbles deliver a stunningly silky/velvety texture, while the wheat and chocolate-like sweetness provide substance. No alcohol noted whatsoever. Never heard much about this beer (wow are there some low ratings) and tried it on a whim. What can I say, my bottle was exquisitely well-done.

Dark brown pour. Heady beige foam atop. Spices, peat, and roasted malts in the nose. Flavours include sweet candy malts, a subtle spiceyness, with mild earthy peaty flavours in the finish. Medium light bodied, with a somewhat watery finish.

Huge offwhite head; cloudy dark mud-orange body with ongoing carbonation. Subtle aroma of sweetness, and possibly some spices. Not really that much aroma. Taste is mellow, clean, light, and ends in a faintly dry aftertaste with some faintly spicy notes. Mouthfeel slightly muddy. Well. This was kind of boring, if you ask me.

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, special orders). Like most Weissbiers it pours with an enormous head, this one is also very thick and creamy and lasts "forever". Colour of beer is cloudy brownish golden, a bit darker than most Hefe-Weissbiers. Very moderate and subdued hefe aroma, hints of leather. Flavour has bit more hops and less "banana & cloves" elements than your standard h.w. Fairly dry. A drinkable h.w., but not really remarkable. However, I love this style, and the Schneeweisse makes no exception.

500ml bottle from Pitfield Beer shop. Black beer, thin beige head. Nice dark wheat beer with good malts, choc and liquorice. More liquorice in mouth with a mild oily feel. Molasses on end. Bit over carbonated. Choc nose is quite intense.

This one pours a cloudy yellow colour with a bright white head. The first scents that come to mind are fruit, maybe ripe pear and apples? Very carbonated to the nose. First sip was thin and watery. The flavours are a little fruity also with not much carbonation to the taste. Smooth because its so thin but not bad over all. The finish is not as strong as other Wheat beers but thin also.

(Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Erdinger Oktoberfest Weizen". Lightly hazy amber golden with a delicate, creamy head. Malty, soft lightly caramelish aroma. Extremely smooth mouthfeel. Light, malty flavour with some wheaty notes, but without the typical notes of citrus and banana normally found in a Hefe. Lacks a bit of personality, but still this is an interesting and pleasant brew. 131005
