Bottle from ASDA Supermarket, Manchester. Copper-amber with a small head. A milder pale ale in character, possibly subdued by its notable strength in taste.

Bottle from Asda, High Wycombe. Clear amber with a lasting white head and a light fizz. Cardboard and minerals to the fore. There's some pleasant sweet malty caramel behind which suggests that this could be an average bitter if it hadn't been (as I suspect) pasteurised to death. In its current state though it's poor.

Bottle from Asda, Omagh. Appearance - amber and slightly clear. Off-white head. Nose - toffee, raisin and brown bread. Taste - chewy biscuit and toffee. Palate - medium bodied, chewy texture. Light roast on the finish. Overall - yeah, good example of the style.

Bottle from Asda, Sheerwater. Aroma is malty, with a fruity sweetness. Light brown. Thin frothy translucent white head promptly retreats. Sweet with a sour edge. Berries and, as I spotted in a previous rating, it is indeed metallic. And gluey. Light-medium bodied. Thin but slick. Average-soft carbonation - to its benefit. Long slightly astringent finish. Pretty basic stuff.

440ml can. Gold, small white head, minimal retention. Aroma is a little sweet, grassy, grain, small lemon/herb hop note. Taste is semi-sweet malts, a bit cardboardy in truth, hops come though a bit at the end with a mild bitterness. Body is light but not too bad for a 4% lager. Its not great but I prefer it to the metallic noted main Stella Artois.

Bottle for £1 in Asda. Pours a clear light amber, small head, some retention. Ok Aroma is toffee, biscuit, fruit and herb hops. Quite promising. Taste is slightly watery but does have some distinctive flavours such as caramel, biscuit, orange, slight resin, lager grain note, moderate bitterness in the finish. Quite tasty but could up the flavours a notch. Light to moderate body, slight oiliness on the palate and moderate carbonation. Its fine Overall quite a nice session bitter. It probably is nothing like the original but I can only review on this beer and its fine and good value.

Pours a nitrogenated golden with a solid white head. Aroma of golden malt. Taste has light bitterness, typical British malt. Palate has lingering bitterness on the roof of the tongue. Good.
