A little bitter with the fruit, sour berry tang as well. Actually pretty good, especially for an Amsterdam. Was pleasantly surprised. Good hazy color, good carbonation. Pretty hammed by the time I tried this one...on tap at volos

barVolo, Toronto tap 5oz ($5): Pours a brownish colour with pretty much no head. Later, upon tasting it, I realized there is minimal carbonation, and that would kind of explain it. Aroma is slightly sour, but mostly heavy toward the malt. Taste is very mildly sour with some metal in the end. This is an interesting beer, and as a style it might be something that has some potential, but in its current incarnation I was not all that impressed.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color IPA with a nice large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry bitter hops with medium citrus notes mix in with some medium dry roasted malt. Taste is also a mix between some dry roasted malt with notes of light coffee notes which are balanced against some dry and somewhat citrusy hops notes. Body is a bit light with some good carbonation. Enjoyable though a bit below some staple of the style.

Originally rated June 2005. Kawartha Lakes Brewing was sold to Amsterdam Brewing in 2003. I use to love this brew, especially in summer. I have not tried it since the move. Pours a caramel amber colour with hardly any carbonation. Almost no head, and no lacing at all. The raspberry aroma now smell like it is from a fruit juice. Use to be real powerful. Same as the taste. Most people complained before, because it tasted too much. Now, it is hardly effective. Slight raspberries in the finish, slight wheat in the aftertaste. Refreshing, but a big loss. Same as the rest of the Amsterdam brews, just basic. Thank you KLB for all the years of good brewing... I will now put this one in the past.

Smells like caramel, very sweet aroma. Fairly soft carbonation and a tiny bit of astringency on the aftertaste. Another average product from Amsterdam - sometimes I wonder why I bother. On cask at Castro’s. Thanks to garthicus.

Yellow carbonated body, no head. Soft aroma of orange peels and hops, but not in a good way. Flavour is well-balanced malts with dry hops and a dry finish, this beer’s saving grace. But even after that, it does not excel beyond the middle of the pack.

Appearance is "meh", some head and a copper-sort-of-red body with plenty of carbonation. Aroma is cough-drop mint raspberry with a hint of wood, like that time you were a kid and found the candy in the couch sorta smell. Flavour is sweet raspberry followed by a harsh and dry woody finish with a wet palate. I hate these kinds of beers - neither here nor there, not sweet or balanced, just a cough-syrup awfulness. Total lack of intent, just a mixed up beer.

A golden wheat ale with a thick receding white head. In aroma, a light citrusy and lemony malt with skunky notes. In mouth, a light sweet grainy and lemony malt with German hops, mineral notes, rather boring. Bottle from Probstk, shared with GRM, Dec. 11 2011.

Good bitterness, some pine and overall good drinkability. A good go-to IPA in Toronto area. Some citrus as well.
