HUGE thnx go out to both brewer and Jan ( from biershop ’bierkoning ’ In Amsterdam ) To help me and go way out of their way to get me a bottle of this precious ! Really appreciate this guys ! Shared At BBF 2014 . Pours unclear blonde , big, yet fast fading white head . Smell is lemon-sour, intense . Taste is sour, funky ( whats in a name, hah ? ) , dry, lemons, oak . This reminds a lot of Tilquin geuze, yet I’m far from sure what lambics are used for that one . Very respectable ! Given the fact that this is very hard to come by , and thus probably way to expensive now , it is not something to drink regularly . But if it were, this could stand up to many classics . As for its value now-days , I would say I’d rather chase 50th anniversary or stuff like that . Both people mentionned above however, gave me the chance to drink this . Not for big money , just cause they’re great people . Cheers guys, this one’s to you ! 4,2 Re-rate anno 2017. The beer has fallen appart. Very moist, wet wood, very citrussy sour. Not that great anymore. 3,5

Good yellowish head, not very stable, over well-carbonated, faintly hazy orange-golden beer. Spicy nose, with esters reminding of warm meat, even lightly smoked; other grains. Lightly sourish and definitely lightly smoked. Finish is even markedly phenolic. Bitterish, bit sweetish underbuild, malty, smoked malt. Light body, bit creamy texture, well-carbonated. Not very brilliant for a smoked - the maltquality? Too phenolic, not enought mineral as in Bamberger Rauch.

Pours an extra deep black color (motor oil) topped with a small brown colored head. Very creamy. Decently strong roasty aroma, some coffee and chocolate as well. The taste is pleasantly roasty with not so strong bitterness. Some chocolate also here and some coffee as well. Very nice.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. Bottled on 06/06/2014.Light hazy golden, small white head. Lots perfume, ester in the nose, yeast, flowers, something almost alcohol-like,… Taste is fish guts yeast, thick, fizzy, esters, lots of perfume, malt, lots of bread, flowers, white pepper,… High carbonation. Too much yeast, fizzy, bread, etc. This is a bit everywhere but where it should be. This seems like another case of someone equating saison with Belgian Ale. This is like a Belgian Ale with odd yeast, lots of yeast but the yeast makes me think more of Germany than Belgium honestly. All of this makes it hard to drink on top, probably not the right quality for a saison to have. Too bad.
