Draught at the brewpub. Clear nut brown, small beige head. Light beechwood smokey aroma. Light-medium bodied with very hard and clean mouthfeel. Buttery finish. The smoke flavour is there, but it’s not accompanied by any malt depth.

Golden color. Nice malty aroma, some hop. Clear honey taste, not too sweet anyway, but not enough complex, nor interesting; not really hop-aromatic.

An unclear dark amber beer with a huge lasting head. The aroma is very sweet spicy with notes of caramel. The flavor is spicy with notes of caramel and citrus. The spices I can’t put a name on, since I’ve never tasted it in a beer before, but maybe it is thyme, that has been added. The body is quite strong - a nice fall beer.

A clear red beer with a beutiful light brown head. The aroma is hoppy with notes of caramel, roasted bread, and Apollo yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, Apollo yeast, and loads of caramel. The carbonization tickles the tongue. It is too sweet for my liking. A very standard beer from Apollo.

A deep red beer with a fine brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of malt and licorice. The mouthfeel is soft and the flavor is sweet malty with notes of licorice. It has a dry end from roasted malt.
Earlier Rating: 3/10/2004 Total Score: 3.3
The aroma is faint but sweet with notes of Apollo yeast and licorice. THe color is very dark red and it has a beutiful beige head. The flavor is sweet with notes of licorice dominating but also roasted malt (more than in their oatmeal stout), cane sugar, and apollo yeast. The end is rather hoppy dry and the mouthfeel is smooth and a bit watery. It is served too cold for my liking.

A hazy orange-brown beer with a fine lasting light brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of yeast, malt, caramel, and spices. The flavor is also rather sweet with notes of caramel, spices, Apollo yeast, and a fair amount of hops, that gives it an OK dry end. A fresh nice beer.

A deep red beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet malty. The flavor is also sweet malty with notes of caramel before an OK bitterness sets in. Not very stouty for a stout.

A black beer with a beutiful chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet dominated by Apollo yeast. The flavor is sweet and malty with strong notes of caramel and Apollo yeast. It ends on a good bitterness combined with a slight roasted note. A good beer, but it is missing some power to be a real stout in my universe.
