Description
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

Bottle, pours cloudy amber with moderate off-white frothy head. Well-lacing. Lots of honey on aroma, tropical dusty hops in addition. Light to medium body. Oily texture. The flavour starts with dense honey malts. After that powerful resiny hops do their job making the ending really bitter. Unfortunately the bottle is over a year old, so the hops are not fresh at all. I wish I could try it fresher.

Treated as a winter warmer, this was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a good finger and a half worth’s of white foamy head. Dissipates mildly with a messy lace roaming all around.
The aroma bleeds ginger, allspice, and caramel malts. Grassy hops seek to balance decently.
The flavor leads with the same aromas. Sticky caramel malt backbone seems to really impound the aftertaste to run into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fine.
Overall, good as a winter warmer, but seems to be missing a bit more booziness than expected for an American Strong ale.

Bottle from WinCo. Deep glowing golden body. Thick lasting head. Initial aroma of citrus and then hops. Taste follows with more citrus, drier, tarter varieties, small hops bite. Enough of a malt backbone to hold it all together.

12oz can pours out a crisp golden topped with a fluffy white head. Nose is nice floral hops pine and a little citrus. Taste is more of the nice hop mix and a well balanced malt bill.

Bottle(shared by philduk, thanks). Pours amber. Aroma is fruits, citrus, grapefruit, some gass. Flavor is sweet and bitter, citrus, orange, malt. Finish is some grapefruit bitter. Body is bit thin. Overall: good, but would like fresher version (date on the bottle was bit scratched off and couldn’t be read).

This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy/murky burnt orange color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated at a pretty quick pace. Lacing somewhat sticks and then slides into the beer.
The aroma starts bready sweet with some roast and then a subtle clean grassy sweet sliding happiness.
The flavor keeps all of the previously mentioned aromas and blends together nicely. Clean grassy sweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Low carbonation. Sly stickiness.
Overall, I don’t see it as an American styled pale ale, but still good for what it is. Could have again, preferably with fish n’chips.

12oz bottle at home. No BB date. orange almost clear color, small white head. smells of pines, candy, tobacco, bit old hoppy, nutty, damp. overall nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes citric, light pines, some resin, herbal, hints of exotic fruits, tobacco. finishes rather thin with with some tobaccoish old hop notes, resin, and light citric notes. ok overall. nice smell but taste is rather old hoppy and a bit thin towards the finish. just OK.

100IBU but not too bitter or maybe I'm becoming immune to IPAs.
