About
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

Draught at The Local, Bellingham, WA, as Hop Valley Barrel Aged Winter
Amber color with compact generous head. Light Parmesan I’m the aroma, moderately sweet, some caramel.
Can’t feel any barrel aging, and in general it’s a very plain sweet caramel beer.

Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with smallish head. Dank, fruity aroma. Lots of tropical and citrus. Flavor also marked by strong fruit presence. A touch of sweetness and just a slight bitterness. I like this one.

Light amber, moderate white head. Average retention. Pleasant aroma of melon, tropical fruit, citrus, nectar, honey. Medium body. Oily. Bittersweet taste. Flavour: nectar, melon, massive grapefruit bitterness. Very good.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma of pale stone fruit and citrus. Med minus body. Flavor is bitter - pale stone fruit - a little citrus - some mildly toasty caramel backbone. Great tasting. Fairly dry; pretty bitter. Really good session ale.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Mild orange zest aroma. Med body or so. Flavor is orange/citrus with zestiness. It does indeed transition from bitter peel to mild sweetness. There’s some mildly toasty malt support. Not bad. Not my desert island ale, but certainly drinkable.

Lichtbruin bier zonder schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig met iets van zwarte thee en abrikoos. Niet slecht.
