Description
Established in 2014 as a side brand of Brentwood Brewing to cater for the ‘craft’ market.
Elephant School Brewing is named after the Elephant School that was in the base for the army barracks, which was a depot for the Essex Regiment. The school was run by the British East India Trading Company and they trained people to ride Elephants before going out to India. The beers are not along the traditional lines of its parent and so you can expect to see some rather different samples of beers being born.

From cask at Dog & Bell, Deptford, London, 26.05.22. Clear pale golden. Aroma and taste of pale malt, biscuits, old and dry citrus and overripe yellow apples. Underwhelming bitterness. Not great.

Light haze on this fairly rich gold beer, thin bubbly pale cream colour head, gone in a jiffy. Palate is light and has a decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, mildly sweet. Some mellow floralness in the mid and then pleasant enough ripe citrus on the back end. It hangs together reasonably well but didn't strike me as particularly lager like. Tastes more like a cask pale ale, albeit a well carbonated one.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - bright golden with a creamy white head. Nose - definite orange and mango, a little caramel. Taste - more mango than orange this time. Again light caramel or fudge. Palate - light to medium bodied, creamy texture. A little sweet on the finish, in truth. Overall - decent.
